ASANTEMAN UK PAID A COURTESY CALL ON GHANA HIGH COMMISSION IN UK

Asanteman UK a registered charity organisation in the UK paid a courtesy call on the Ghana High Commission in the UK on Tuesday 9th July 2024.

Asanteman UK used the opportunity to invite the Ghana High Commission to the Commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Sagrenti War fought in the year 1874 between the then Asante Empire of Gold Coast (present day Ghana) and the United Kingdom of Great Britain.

The group led by the Esteemed Nana Poku Ware who is the Head of Asanteman UK informed the GHC about the defining role of the war in the history of Asante Empire and the unique position of the war in British History. There has been a similar event in Kumasi earlier this year by Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll King of Asante.

He said this commemoration is to educate the youth about the history of Ghana and to celebrate the bravery and gallantry of our forefathers.

The group was warmly received by H.E Paapa Owusu Ankomah and his Deputy H.E Rita Tani Iddi.

H.E Paapa Owusu Ankomah welcomed and thanked the group for the visit and encourage unity and peaceful co-existence of the various groups within the Ghanaian Community in the UK. He said he represent the interest of every Ghanaian in the UK and is ready to offer his support for the advancement of the country Ghana here in the UK.

On her part, the Deputy Ghana High Commissioner to the UK H.E Rita Tani Iddi called for unity and serious networking among the Ghanaian Community so we can develop and improve on our status. She also advised the people to be law abiding citizens and good ambassadors of Ghana.

Following this impactful meeting, the Ghana High Commission reiterated their willingness to support during the programme on the 4th of August 2024.  The venue for the programme  is The Broadwater Farms Community Centre, Adams Road London,  N17 6HE at exactly 5PM.

Nana Poku Ware thank them and promised to uphold this friendly relationship between the Ghana High Commission and Asanteman UK.
