BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATIONS - ASANTEMAN UK TOUR SCHOOLS ACROSS THE UK
Asanteman UK is a cultural and community-based organisation dedicated to preserving and promoting
the heritage, history, and traditions of the Asante people of Ghana, as well as supporting the wider African and Caribbean diaspora in the UK. Established over two decades ago, Asanteman UK serves as a bridge between the older generation and younger members of the community, ensuring that the rich cultural identity of the Asante people is passed on to future generations.
As a registered charity organization in the UK, our objectives are;
- To advance the education of the public on the artistic and cultural heritage of Asanteman Culture, particularly by promoting workshops, concerts, and festivals that celebrate the cultural heritage and music of Asanteman.
- To act as a resource for young people living in the UK and West Africa by providing advice and assistance and organising programmes of educational and other activities as a means of

Black History Month is a great celebration of the achievements of people of African and Caribbean heritage. It is a month-long celebration in October to essentially dedicate me to celebrate the significant contributions of Black people to their community, their country, and the world. In the specifically, BHM is to celebrate people from African and Caribbean background contributions to UK the culture of the UK. Asanteman UK used this opportunity to tour Schools across the UK to display Asante culture such as drumming, singing and dancing. This afforded us a unique opportunity to share our rich Cultural heritage with the school children in the UK over a one-month period.

Head Teacher of The Sittingbourne School
In the Sittingbourne School in Sittingbourne-Kent, with a population of around 1,600 students and age range of 11–19 years old, the headteacher of the school which was previously known as “The Sittingbourne Community College” Mr. N Smith expressed his gratitude to Asanteman UK for the Cultural display to the students and staff. He said ‘we are proud of the inclusive nature of our school, where children of all abilities, backgrounds and beliefs feel valued and are given the guidance and support they need to flourish, making them 21st Century global citizens. Asanteman UK as part of our charitable activities also donated School items to the school to support teaching and learning.
Nana Opoku Ware in his remarks said he believed this is the beginning of a long relationship between Asanteman UK and The Sittingbourne School. We look forward to an even greater display in the years ahead.
